U.S. Stock Futures Sharply Higher Ahead of Trump-Xi Summit

U.S. stock futures are sharply higher in premarket trading with lower oil prices and yields lending to the bullish sentiment.
The moves come after mixed markets in choppy trade last week with the tech-heavy Nasdaq-100 (NDX) the only major index that was positive. Oil prices are down about 2.6% near $93.50 a barrel despite geopolitical tensions. President Donald Trump said he is in a “deciding mode” and “very big things” are going to happen in the near future regarding the US-Iran war. Yields are also lower with the benchmark 10-Year near 4.95%.
With minimal economic data and earnings this week, investor focus will be on oil prices, geopolitical risks and yields. Focus will also be on a key summit this week between U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, who are expected to discuss trade, tariffs, artificial intelligence, and other economic issues.
