U.S. stock futures are slightly lower ahead of the Wall Street open after the major indices posted gains last week.

The U.S.-Russia summit on ending the conflict between Kyiv and Moscow concluded without a ceasefire deal on Friday. President Trump will host a meeting in Washington with Zelenskyy and a number of European leaders.

The Fed will continue to be in focus this week as central bank members travel to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, for the annual economic policy symposium on August 21-23. Investors will be monitoring the event for clues about the future path of rates headed by Fed Chair Powell’s speech on Friday.

Investors will also monitor earnings on the retail sector with results due from Home Depot (HD), Lowe’s (LOW), Target (TGT) and Walmart (WMT) this week.

• Oil (/CL) – Oil prices are up 0.7% near $62.40 a barrel after hitting 10-week lows overnight as the U.S. did not exert more pressure on Russia to end the Ukraine war by implementing further measures to disrupt Russian oil exports after the presidents from both countries met on Friday.
• Gold (/GC) – Gold Futures are up 0.3% near $3395 after hitting a two-week low on Friday, supported by lower U.S. Treasury yields as investors awaited U.S. President Donald Trump’s meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European leaders to discuss a peace deal with Russia.
• Bitcoin (/BTC) – The Crypto Future is down 1.5% near $115,500 in the premarket.
• VIX – The CBOE Volatility Index was up 1.75% on Friday and settled at 15.09 as stocks were modestly lower.
• U.S. Dollar (/DX) – The dollar is slightly higher to 97.8.
