The S&P 500 gained 1.08% and the Nasdaq 100 rose 1.66%, while the Russell 2000 outperformed with a 2.56% advance. Consumer Discretionary, Information Technology, and Materials led sector gains, while Energy and Consumer Staples lagged.

NVIDIA Delivers 85% Revenue Surge

NVIDIA (NVDA) shares were lower in after-market trading though it delivered another blockbuster quarter: record revenue of $81.6 billion up 85% year over year, driven by continued strength in AI demand and a surge in Data Center revenue to $75.2 billion, up 92%. Alongside the strong results, the company announced a significant capital return program, authorizing an additional $80 billion in share repurchases and raising its quarterly dividend to $0.25 per share. NVIDIA also highlighted a strategic shift in its business, transitioning to a new reporting framework centered on two core platforms—Data Center and Edge computing—underscoring its focus on long-term AI and infrastructure growth.

Lowe’s Beats Q1 Estimates, Reaffirms Outlook

Lowe’s Companies (LOW) Q1 results topped analyst estimates, with revenue of $23.08B and adjusted EPS of $3.03; comparable sales rose modestly by 0.6%. The company reaffirmed its full-year outlook, calling for $92–$94B in sales and steady margins, though earnings-per-share guidance disappointed. Operationally, strength in the Pro segment, appliances, and online channels supported results, alongside continued capital returns and investment. However, shares slipped as macro headwinds—including higher mortgage rates and cautious consumer spending—continue to weigh on big-ticket home improvement demand, echoing similar commentary from peers. Lowe’s stock was flat in after-hours trading.
